Once we got out and about running errands (Home Depot, Wal-Mart and Sam's) I started feeling better. Once we got all our shopping, we headed over to our apartment and started filling in the empty spaces. We now have a couch, chaise lounge, bookshelf and lamps set up- and it's starting to look quite homey if I do say so myself. We still need to set up the TV stand and get a kitchen table, but once it's all finished I'm pretty sure I will be quite happy and comfortable in our new home. It has been a lot of fun playing around with the furniture and imagining where certain things will go once we get all our stuff over here. I am also definitely looking forward to having my little Civic here as it's the perfect island car- small, compact, has a great turning radius and most importantly... AIR CONDITIONED! It's also perfect for all the parallel parking that's necessary in Waikiki.
Anyway, after a long day of running errands and doing home improvement projects, I'm pretty wiped out. Tomorrow is Labor Day... the weather for the beach is supposed to be gorgeous. Still haven't really played in the ocean yet, so I think I might take a surf board down tomorrow and try to catch a few waves. Then, on Tuesday I have my first day of work!

LOL I can't wait to see pics of the apt. I'm sure its coming together nicely. Let me know what you want me to send...the post office has a pretty good deal on "if it fits it ships". Thanks, Mom. I miss you! I can't even rememebr what I really left behind. You might want to make a list of things that are there that you think I might want and then send it to me. Then I can pick and choose some stuff for you to send. Right now, I'm not sure what's going where yet. Gotta see what's coming in the boxes from California.

ReplyDeleteSounds like you have had a very full plate since arriving to your new home!! Soon you will find your comfort zone. By that I mean your grocery store will start to feel like your own, your gas station of choice will become more familiar, and your neighborhood will start to feel like home!! This is what I remember about all my moves. So as you start seeing the same friendly faces at the places you patronize, you will start developing that sense of belonging. The energy of your neighborhood will bring you into that comfort zone, and it will feel like home!!! Lots to look forward to!!!
Will be seeing your Mom and Dad this weekend. Going south for a get together with folks we have not seen in close to 30 years Yikes!! It should be a hoot!! Have been doing hot Bikram yoga and still enjoy it (especially when we are finished) LOL!!! Your dad is still perfecting his Chalet so we are looking forward to the new and improved tour!!! We will be camping the weekend of Sept 25...we will raise our glasses of wine and toast to the success of our lovely children!!! Blair is happy as ever in his new home of California!! When we visited him he took us to all his neighborhood places (ie the coffee shop, the grocery and a couple of little restaurants).....His new comfort zone. It's all good!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aww thanks for your comforting words Aunt Jeanine! It's really good to hear from you. I know that we will settle into our neighborhood and become more comfortable and familiar with everything soon. I think it will help once we have our apartment officially set up (i.e. actually have a bed!) Enjoy your camping trip and give my Mom a hug for me! Love you!
